The Resident Care Program offers residents of The Dorchester and The Manor the healthcare services needed to age in place or to recuperate but at much more affordable rates than traditional assisted care facilities.

Central to the program is the watchful eye and personal care coordination provided by the Resident Care Director who monitors and oversees the administration of mobility assistance, food service, resident monitoring, transportation and healthcare.

By achieving economies of scale, New Forum has secured services at lower costs than would be available to an individual purchasers. This allows community residents to obtain quality personal care and enjoy economic benefits that would not be realized in a single family home.

With short- and long-term arrangement, the Resident Care Program serves residents requiring extended care as well as those needing intermittent care as a follow-up to treatment or surgery. For both our new and existing residents, transition out of the program is as easy as transferring into it.

CHARLOTTE'S LARGEST RETIREMENT COMMUNITY ADDS HEALTHCARE

The Manor and The Dorchester retirement communities introduce affordable healthcare services through the Resident Care Program

PINEVILLE, NC (May 2010) -- New Forum has hired a full-time Resident Care Director and partnered with two licensed healthcare providers in establishing The Resident Care Program for its Manor and Dorchester retirement communities.  Recently registered with the State of North Carolina as Multi-Unit Assisted Housing with Services Facilities, The Manor and The Dorchester now offer an affordable alternative to assisted living for seniors requiring interim or extended care services.

In addition to prolonging the stay of existing community residents, New Forum hopes its provision of healthcare services will attract seniors who need daily healthcare services but are unwilling or unprepared to make the transition to an assisted living facility.

"We began noticing a trend among our exiting residents," explains Charley Hodges, New Forum President & CEO.  "Many were forced to leave for assisted living facilities due to minor or interim increases in their daily healthcare requirements.  We have since observed a tremendous  unfulfilled market for temporary and long-term healthcare services in affordable independent living retirement communities. With our Resident Care Program, we are hoping to fill the void in availability."

Resident Care Director Ann Marie Obrikat will coordinate and oversee the administration of services, including those provided by affiliated care providers Homewatch CareGivers and Emerald Care.  Enrollees will receive all basic care services and will have a choice of optional services with which to customize their plans according to their respective needs.  The program will be available tentatively to seniors recuperating after a hospital treatment or surgery and to those requiring long-term healthcare services.

"The Resident Care Program allows our senior residents to maintain the freedoms and comforts of their own apartments while enjoying the conveniences and security of at-home care," says Obrikat.  "It allows our residents to age in place."
